If over the island, make sure to hang your chandelier between 30 and 34 inches above the island and remember to add 3 inches height for every foot of ceiling height if your ceilings are over 8 feet. For the best effect the chandelier over a table should be approximately a foot narrower than the table, and there should be a distance of at least 4 feet between the walls and the chandelier on all sides.
3) Measure Chandelier Size
If your kitchen is rather small remember proportion matters — don’t buy a big chandelier for a small kitchen. Chandeliers today are available in lots of shapes and sizes. Whether you are buying over the Internet or in a store measuring is crucial.
