The Ultimate List of Painting Company Do’s and Don’tsNiranjan Kumar
First, before you even consider starting a painting company, there are so many things that need to be considered. There are so many steps in the process of starting a painting company that will help guide you towards success. A lot of this will come down to market research, feedback from future customers, and experimenting with your ideas.
The first step –
do you want to start an interior or exterior painting business? Interior painters deal with houses while exterior painters put their paint onto cars (or whatever else needs to be painted). I would honestly try to only go with the interior painting business because if you also do exterior work, it will be a lot more time-consuming. I would not recommend starting a painting business that does both. Unless you want to end up hating painting very quickly.
Do you even want to run a painting business at all?
Could you come up with better ideas? Why not run a landscaping company? Or any other business that is not as time-consuming as a painting company is going to be. Just food for thought! But since we are doing an article about the ultimate list of ‘do’s and don’t’s for a painting company, so let’s keep going down this path.
The second step
The second thing would be to find the best painters in your area. I know this is easier said than done, but it is necessary if you want to start a painting company. It may seem like it is unnecessary now, but starting a painting business is not that easy. You are going to need an actual team of workers to do all of the work for you. Sure you could just do the painting yourself, but why don’t you just try out landscaping instead? Although landscaping will take up a lot of time as well, it won’t be as intensive on your time as a painting business will be. So why not try out landscaping and see how it goes? Chances are you will get frustrated and just want to do the painting job instead, but we will get to that later.
How can you find the best painters in your area?
I know that I did a lot of market research and kept track of who was doing great work. The way to do this is by either having people recommend painters for you or by looking at the stores themselves. If stores have their own painters, then go ahead and pick them out without any hesitation! Just be careful when choosing a painter because there are so many inexperienced people out there who only want the lowest prices while not doing good quality work. Check out websites like Yelp and Angie’s List for their feedback on painters if you want.
The third and final thing to consider is how much do you actually want to invest into your painting company? Just because you have a ton of passion for painting, it does not mean that people will have the same passion. So if there is no market for your products or if customers do not have a lot of cash in their pockets, then there is no point in investing all of that money. If you are going to invest a big chunk of cash into your business, then it is going to be easier if you have some sort of type of marketing strategy in place.
