Table Lamps

Table lamps made a wonderful accessories for the home or office in that they provide style and function. And, as compared to large pieces of furniture lamps for the home are less expensive and easy to move from one location to another. Often, fine lamps for the home become part of our décor for decades and may be easily passed down to family or friends.

Bedside Lamps

Table Lamps for Bedroom are often placed on tables that have a narrow depth such as a bedside table or a dresser. For this reason, lamps with rectangular or oval shades are often a good choice. But bedside lamps with square or round shades also work well provided the shade is smaller than the depth of the table on which it sets. In general, the best height for a bedside lamp on a 30” high bedside table is 24”-32” (top of finial).

Buffet Lamps

Buffet Lamps come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit surfaces with narrow depths. These may be tall and narrow candlestick lamps or they may short and wide. The best height for a buffet table lamp will depend on the height of the table and the height of the ceiling. The lower the table or higher the ceiling, generally the taller the lamp. For a 38” high buffet, a lamp that is between 24”-32” (top of finial) may be most appropriate for the typical 8' ceiling height.

Floor Lamps

Floor Lamps are a great way to add a strong vertical element to a room, along with adding style and function. These lamps are also a good choice when you don't have a table to put a table lamp on - or don't want to use an existing table surface for a table lamp. Chandeliers, Lanterns, and Pendants

Chandeliers are no longer just for the dining room. Today, we see chandeliers and pendant lamps used in the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. This rule of thumb will give you a general idea as to the diameter needed for a chandelier in a room such as a dinging room: Add the width and length of the room in feet and use inches: For example, you have a room that 11' wide +13' deep = 24'. The approximate chandelier diameter would be 24”. Dimmer switches are an important consideration. We carry a wide selection of crystal, wrought iron, brass, and bronze chandelier and lanterns.

Wall Sconces

Wall sconces are useful in a variety of locations such as the living room, dining room, hallway, and bedroom. They are great for accent lighting or task lighting. Bedroom wall sconces often have a swing arm to allow for greater mobility. Depending on where the wall sconces are used, dimmer switches should also be considered. In general, wall sconces are placed about 5 feet above the floor and spaced 8-10 feet apart.

Desk Lamps

There are many choices when it comes to choosing a desk lamp. Sometimes a table lamp may be the best choice for use as a desk lamp when a multipurpose lighting source is desired. It provides general illumination and a degree of task lighting for objects located near the lamp. On the other hand, swing arm desk lamps are designed to focus light on specific tasks, but not to provide much general illumination. When determining which type to choose, consider the other lighting sources in the room – and the overall look you want to achieve.

Delivery times vary depending on the manufacturer. Wildwood Lamps, Chelsea House, Frederick Cooper, and Tommy Bahama products generally take between 2-3 weeks to receive. Uttermost, Dimond, Elk, and Candice Olson items take between 3 and 7 days.
